Questions

Still Have Questions?

If you still have questions regarding the information required for admissions, the Office of Graduate Admissions can help.

Submit the Graduate Admissions Application.

Once you have submitted your application, you will be sent a HawkID and password to access your Admissions Profile on MyUI.

Upload your most recent resume or curriculum vitae (CV) to help us understand where you've been and what you've been able to accomplish.

Help us get to know you and your goals/motivations. Use this statement to share with us:

  • Why are you pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience?
  • What challenges and opportunities have you encountered during your academic training and student life and how did you overcome them?
  • Why did you choose the Neuroscience Graduate Program for your graduate training?
  • Why are you interested in the University of Iowa?
  • What are your short- and long-term career goals?

Identify three (3) individuals that can tell us more about what you are like to work with and can help us understand what kind of student and professional you are. Ideally, these are individuals that can speak to your strengths and areas for improvement as well as your abilities and motivations as a graduate student and scientist.

If you are admitted, official transcripts will be required before your enrollment.

For international records, all records should bear the original stamp or seal of the institution and the signature of a school official.

  • Documents not in English must be accompanied by a complete, literal, English translation, certified by the issuing institution.

International applications may be asked to submit an English Proficiency Exam Score to comply with the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements.

$60 ($100 for international students), payable by Discover, MasterCard, or Visa.

Waivers: Please review application fee waiver guidelines outlined by the Graduate College here. The Neuroscience Graduate Program cannot not offer direct fee waivers when applying.
