The Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience is pleased to announce that Gage Liddiard successfully defended his doctoral thesis on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Gage’s dissertation, titled “Tonic GABAergic inhibition in early brain development and its role in treating neonatal seizures,” explores fundamental mechanisms of inhibitory signaling in the developing brain and their potential therapeutic relevance for neonatal seizure disorders. His work represents a significant contribution to our understanding of early neurodevelopment and the biological factors influencing seizure susceptibility.

With the completion of his PhD, Gage will continue his training through the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) to pursue his medical doctorate, further advancing his path toward a career as a physician-scientist.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Gage Liddiard on this tremendous accomplishment. We look forward to following his continued success in research, medicine, and the broader neuroscience community.
