The Neuroscience Graduate Program is proud to congratulate Tre’Andice Williams, PhD candidate in Neuroscience, on being named a 2026–2027 Iowa Innovation Leadership Fellow by the University of Iowa Office of Innovation!

Tre’Andice is driven by a passion for asking bold scientific questions and translating discoveries into meaningful improvements in human health. Her research investigates the role of nuclear tau in early brain development and how its regulation may contribute to neurological vulnerability. Using molecular biology, cell culture models, and human tissue analysis, she is working to uncover mechanisms that could ultimately inform new therapeutic approaches for neurological disorders.

For Tre’Andice, innovation is about more than discovery—it is about building a bridge between scientific understanding and real-world impact. Through the Iowa Innovation Leadership Fellowship, she will continue developing her perspective on how research, medicine, and entrepreneurship can come together to address unmet needs and improve outcomes for patients and communities.

As an aspiring physician-scientist, Tre’Andice hopes to bring together translational neuroscience research and compassionate clinical care, developing innovative approaches that make a meaningful difference for people living with neurological disease.
