Biography

My research focuses on predicting treatment response to ketamine or transcranial magnetic stimulation for people with treatment-resistant depression with the overall goal to create a personalized medicine approach to treating depression. I aim to do this by using electroencephalography to measure cortical plasticity at several time points during clinical ketamine or transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment courses at UIHC. Doing so will allow us to understand the relationship between baseline cortical plasticity and treatment response, and how the treatments modulate cortical plasticity. By identifying patients who are most likely to have an antidepressant response to these treatments, we will be able to get them into the treatment most appropriate for them and reduce time to remission.
