Biography
The Glykys Lab focuses on neuronal swelling (cytotoxic edema) and the inhibitory system. Our research's long-term goal is to better treat neuronal swelling and seizures, especially during the neonatal period. Our areas of research include: studying changes in neuronal chloride concentration and cellular volume during pathological conditions, neonatal seizures, epilepsy, and GABA(A) receptor physiology. We approach these scientific questions with electrophysiological techniques and two-photon imaging at the cellular level.
