Biography

My research interest is in the mechanisms of sleep-dependent memory consolidation. Sleep has a very important role in consolidating newly learned information to a long-term, lasting memory. I am using techniques to explore molecular mechanisms that are altered when sleep is lost to try and understand the natural role of these mechanisms in sleep, and what involvement they have in memory consolidation. I am also using approaches to target specific neural circuits to promote sleep and wake, and study the effects on memory and synaptic plasticity.
