Timothy Brennan, M.D., Ph.D., Samir Gergis Professor of Anesthesia, Vice Chair for Research, will receive the Frederick W. L. Kerr Basic Science Research Award from the American Pain Society (APS) during the group’s annual meeting held May 6-8, 2010.  This award was established in 1987 in honor of Frederick W. L. Kerr, an APS founder, to recognize individual excellence and achievement in pain scholarship.  Dr. Brennan is the first anesthesiologist to receive the basic science award.

Richard Rosenquist, M.D., Professor, Director of the Center for Pain Medicine and Regional Anesthesia, will receive the Distinguished Service Award from the American Pain Society (APS) during the group’s annual meeting held May 6-8, 2010.  The Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding and dedicated service to the APS.  Dr. Rosenquist has served on several committees that generated practice guidelines for pain management.
