Mitochondrial regulation of cellular function

3316 PBDB

The Taylor Lab investigates mechanisms regulating mitochondrial function in health and disease. We use genetic and chemical methods to illuminate metabolic networks and the mechanisms by which they regulate cellular function. We address problems in diabetes, cancer, and neurological disease, in cell culture and mouse models in vivo. We have two major interests in neuroscience: 1) The molecular and metabolic mechanisms by which the ketogenic diet prevents seizures in epilepsy, and 2) Interactions between neurogenesis and mitochondrial function in the hippocampus.
