Cognitive / Behavioral Neuroscience: Acquired Personality Disturbances in Brain Disease
My research focuses on the nature of acquired personality disturbances (APD) following development of a brain disorder, and issues regarding the assessment of APDs. Projects investigate APD associated with damage to prefrontal cortex or associated with specific conditions such as behavioral variant-frontotemporal dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and traumatic brain injury, as well as personality changes associated with normal aging and their real-life consequences. Ongoing investigation also aims to identify and validate specific subtypes of personality disturbance resulting from brain damage, and investigate their neuroanatomical correlates.
