Research Interests

My current research is focused on social behaviour and cognition. I am particularly interested in sex differences in the neural substrates that support social behaviour in relation to social decision-making, drug and alcohol use, and sexual behaviour. I am also interested in the cognitive processes that may malfunction following focal brain injury that result in disordered social conduct. I am also dabbling into research on the sense of smell.

Living in Iowa City

Iowa City is a nice little city with a surprising amount to offer.
What strikes me the most is how friendly everyone is. I moved to Iowa City from having spent four years in Toronto and was a bit apprehensive about coming to a smaller city, and particularly an American city. But, it took no time at all for Iowa City to feel like home. Just like the rest of the community the faculty and the other students in the neuroscience program are friendly and easy to work with. There is a tonne of opportunity and freedom to do solid and unique research with brain-damaged patients, unlike pretty much anywhere else.
