Research Interests
I work in Joshua Weiner’s lab where we study the role of protocadherin-?, a family of cellular adhesion molecules, in the developing and nervous system. This family has 22 different proteins, which have been shown to localize to the synapse. This makes it a tantalizing candidate for conferring synaptic specificity. I am currently trying to elucidate several biochemical interactions to try to better understand the function of these proteins.
Living in Iowa City
I choose to come to the University of Iowa mainly because of they friendly and integrated atmosphere that the faculty and students share with one another. Overall Iowa City lends itself graduate life very well. There are plenty of coffee shops and other places to study as well as plenty of entertainment at night.
